Why UMVC3247?
The current preferred way to play UMVC3 online is by running the game on a cloud machine, and having the players connect to it via Parsec.
Setting up the cloud to play UMVC3 requires complicated and tedious setup. And since people do not play through the native game client, matchmaking is all done through private channels and DMs.
This project is created in attempt to simplify some of the pain associated witht this, by providing a streamlined way for anyone to provision cloud UMVC3 instances, and to provide an open "town square" for people to chat and look for matches.
No sign‑up required.
Play instantly without navigating cloud‑provider sign‑ups, complicated billing, image setup, or cloud quota requests. Your Twitch account is your system identity, which is already a central hub for the UMVC3 community. No need to sign up for parsec. We use the NVIDIA GameStream protocol (Sunshine as the server) to connect players to cloud machine. This is considered superior to parsec for cloud gaming, with lower latency and better image quality.
Self‑serve, highly available, and open.
Anyone can launch a station on‑demand. No more need to wait for that certain friend or streamer to be available to host.
Bot‑managed queue.
The system automatically handles the queue and removes idle actors—no manual operator needed. Bad actors can be removed from the system via election driven moderation commands, removing the need for an always present admin/operator for open queues. Channel mods will also have moderation powers.
